Another tough interview question to answer is the “What Salary Range Are You Seeking?” question. The response can be delivered differently depending on where in the interview process it is asked.
Firstly its very important to always let the employer make the first move on questions regarding salary and numbers.
If it is asked early on the best answer is to reply with another question, simply being something along the lines of “What would someone with my qualifications and experience normally earn in this company?”.
If however asked towards the end of the interview and the interview has gone well a more indepth response is required, we recommend something along the lines of.. “I am ready to consider your very best offer..”.
Sometimes you will still be pressed for exact numbers, and the best way to approach this is to have the results of a recent salary survey at hand or memorized, and ask whether they will be paying within that range.
Its never an easy question to answer, especially when your livelihood is involved and make sure you don’t sell yourself short. Much better to try and keep your mouth closed and wait for the offer to come to you. It could be a lot more than what you might have asked for!

I really like this article as it addresses one of the toughest interview questions (in any country!). I always think it is best to subtly to be vague and outbids question back on the interviewer!
